Full Social Record

Mythic Paint has done a great job in keeping its product as a local community product. Developed in conjunction with the US Government and scientists at the University of Southern Mississippi, Mythic Paint has been maintained as a Mississippi born and bred product. Short company info

The Mythic Paint Company was established in 2001 as a result of cooperation between its parent company Southern Diversified Products and the University of Southern Mississippi. Originally called "American Pride," the paint was initially developed for use of the Department of Defense in the Pentagon. Word got out and consumers began to request the product for general residential use. Today, Mythic is one of the fastest growing paint companies in the United States, specializing in environmentally and people friendly paints containing zero volatile organic compounds. Mythic has a color pallet of over 1200 colors. In addition, the company claims it can match the colors of its competitors through a VOC-free coloring system. Mythic competes in the consumer paints market, manufacturing products for interior and exterior uses. Within this market, the company contends with leading traditional paint manufacturers that have developed their own environmentally safe products such as Sherwin Williams, Glidden and Benjamin Moore. Mythic distributes its high end, innovative products through independent retail outlets and its website mythicpaint.com, as opposed to big box retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe’s.
