Responsible Buyer's Index
We at Scryve are continuously searching for more and better ways to inform consumers about sustainability issues that matter to them. The Scryve Responsible Buyer's Index (RBI) is a tool we developed to provide Scryve ratings to consumers when and where they need it most: in stores. Progressive and ethical retailers can license Scryve's proprietary company ratings for display in store aisles, bringing shoppers the information they want in a relevant and helpful manner.
With the Scryve ratings on shelves, retailers ensure that their customers’ purchases will not come at the expense of their peace of mind. Scryve’s Responsible Buyer’s Index provides an easy-to-understand rating system that assesses a product's social and environmental impact, giving customers the information they need to choose the best products for their families, their communities, and our planet.
- Substantiates the belief that a retailer sells quality products
- Drives customers towards choosing products with bigger margins
- Attracts a demographic that has more disposable income
- Strengthens branding as a good corporate citizen
- Creates opportunities for press and word of mouth buzz
Putting the Scryve Responsible Buyer's Index on shelves enables shoppers to make informed decisions and to buy better. Customers are concerned about the health and well-being of their planet as well as that of their families, and most are willing to change their shopping habits - and are inclined to spend more on every-day products – accordingly.
Providing Scryve’s Responsible Buyer's Index is smart business
In a national survey, 65% of respondents said it was “extremely” or “very important" to buy products and services from companies that share their values. (LOHAS/ National Consumers League Survey)
As more and more companies tout their green practices, consumers want to know which of these claims are in fact meaningful. We do the research and analysis that cuts through jargon and advertisers' selected messages to establish informed, concise ratings that are easy for customers to understand and use.
Higher Standards, Higher Quality, Greater Value
In a study commissioned by the Wall Street Journal, shoppers stated that they were willing to pay more for products that were produced ethically. Consumers who identified themselves as having high expectations for corporate responsibility were willing to pay up to 67% more for an ethically produced product. Those who identified themselves as having low expectations were nevertheless still willing to pay 17% more for the same product. (Remi Trudel and June Cotte for WSJ)
The monthly cost for the Scryve Responsible Buyer's Index is only $0.10 per brand (there is no limit on products per brand). Smaller retailers can effectively cover their sales floor inventory for $70-100 per month.
